The Good Food and wine Show in Gauteng kicked off in high gear with the very first MasterChef SA Live experience.  Callum Hann, MasterChef Australia winner and judge on the show, and Masterchef SA Judge Andrew Atkinson were there to add extra zest to the show.

In an effort to re-create the MasterChef experience, the show  put together three separate challenges, including the Pressure Test and the Mystery Box and Invention Challenge for amateur cooks to put their culinary skills to the test.

In the Pressure test contestants were given Andrew Atkinson’s Citrus Gin Seared Tuna with Salad Niçoise to re-create in just half an hour.  Full instructions were given to the amateur cooks with four contestants cooking it out for the top spot.  Among the contestants were Warren Pearce and Sarah Brauns, public relations officers at Hirsch's, the largest independently owned appliance retailer in South Africa.  Excitement and nervousness were clear on the faces of the contestants as the bell rang, announcing the start of the 30 minutes.  The contestants wasted no time as they jumped out of the starting block to re-produce the dish.  After much pressure, sweat and nerves the contestants finished their dishes, ready to be judged.  After careful tasting and deliberation , Warren Pearce was crowned the winner of the MasterChef SA Live Experience Pressure Test Challenge.

Warren, who often enjoys cooking at home, spending time with family for Sunday lunch  said "I was so nervous, shaking like a leaf, but I just focused on the task at hand and as we always say at Hirsch's, Go for It".

The MasterChef SA Live Experience is only one of the exciting events being held at this year's Good Food and Wine show in Gauteng.  Hosted at the Coca Cola Dome in North Riding, The Good Food and Wine Show is a must for food lovers across the province.
